Best Health & Wellness Gifts
NEW Year, NEW You! For most of us that means focusing on improving our health and wellness for the New Year. I’m going to share some things that have helped me along my wellness journey and my best health and wellness gifts. I think of these gifts as something that could either give someone a little extra self love support or maybe they could even kick start their health & wellness routine.
So before we jump into gifts let me share with you what I have learned during my own health and wellness journey. I have been battling stomach issues for the past few years. They have made my skin FREAK out (think melasma, cystic acne, AND a blistering rash- I mean), made me super uncomfortable (bloating, constipation, etc), and have made me feel SUPER tired all the time. UGH.
I went to the guru of all functional doctor’s – Dr. Frank Lipman. And although he helped me figure out that I had an imbalance of bacteria in my gut (Candida) he put me on a VERY restrictive plan of no sugars, gluten, dairy, AKA every food on the planet! I took some prescription anti-fungals that made me feel like I had the FLU and got marginally better.
But can I tell you cutting out all those foods didn’t make me feel like a million bucks AND it was super stressful to always think about! SO after a year of seeing him monthly I decided to do a bit more research on my own and I came across a nutrionist Catherine of Butter Nutrition. Catherine had struggled like all of us with her health and decided that food could heal and get her out of her nutritional deficit. Since working with Catherine I have done a hair analysis to determine what nutrients/minerals I have too much/not enough of and used this knowledge to determine a supplement plan that was right for me. I’ve taken a food sensitivity test to determine what I’m very sensitive to a little bit sensitive to to come up with a meal plan that works for me. And along the way if you have any hiccups with supplements/food (which believe me I did) Catherine is there to offer advice and support.
Now I’m not 100%, but feel like I have a strong foundation in what is going to help me get back up and running. I get it, everyone has their own story, own body, and own health & wellness journey. Just wanted to let you know that you aren’t alone out there and feel free to email me with any questions – always happy to share and help!
So the below are my best health and wellness gift ideas that just might be the little extra support a friend, your Mom, or even husband needs to stay motivated in 2018!
